The Experience

SESSION INFORMATION:

Sessions can be held at the studio in Downtown Durham, at an outdoor location of your choice, or at your home.  Each of these options leads to a different look and feel.  I would be glad to talk with you regarding your vision for your session and determine which option works best for you.

Studio sessions are scheduled on Monday-Friday, usually in the mornings.  Outdoor sessions can be scheduled early in the morning or preferably in the later afternoon/evening depending on sunset times.  Some Saturday appointments are available, but they tend to be booked 3-4 months in advance.   If you are interested in a newborn session, it is a good idea to call before the baby is born to ensure that you can schedule an appointment for the first few weeks after delivery.I never want my clients to feel rushed.  Sessions can take anywhere from 1-2 hours, three hours for newborns. There is always time for a clothing change if desired.  We also have time for a snack break or to regroup if necessary.  Of course, nursing moms are welcome feed baby and change diapers.

Your Image Premier and Ordering appointment will be scheduled about a week after your session where you will get to view and order your images.  I will personally guide you in selecting the final images for wall portraits, albums, Folio boxes and individual prints. Please bring all decision makers to your viewing appointment. It is best that small children do not attend. This appointment usually takes about an hour and a half.

CLOTHING:
My motto in clothing is this: simple goes a long way! I like to keep the focus on the subject; therefore, simple clothing choices are best for creating timeless portraits. I also love photographing more fun and colorful outfits, too!

Bare skin is my favorite on newborns and babies. You may have other clothes, but keep in mind; baby may get grouchy when there are too many clothing changes.I suggest bringing a few outfits that you are considering and allowing me to help you make the final choice on what would best suit the look and feel you are going for in your child’s portraits. I also have on hand a few items such as dresses and tutus that you are welcome to incorporate into the session.
